 The Water Walk...

ForAmie-4AB.jpgThis particular grassroots campaign is designed for groups of at least 15 people. The Water Walk is a peaceful demonstration where participants walk along highly populated areas carrying water-filled buckets representing the plight of the African people. This creates a platform where individuals can thoughtfully engage with people and  raise awareness not only through one-on-one encounter but also through the media.

Groups assembled for this task should have majority of the group walking in a single form line along a sidewalk through a popular area of town.  The walk should be 2 to 3 miles in length, roundtrip.  While these members are carrying water over their heads, the remaining members quietly and peacefully hold signs with bold print for onlookers to read.  Some suggestions include "www.activewater.org", "$1 = One Year of Clean Water for an African", and/or "The average African girl walks 6 miles a day to fetch water from polluted sources".  Keep brochures handy to give to individuals who are curious.

Also, consider taking the challenge up a notch and have your family and friends sponsor you for the event, requesting $1 increments from friends for each 1 mile that you walk during the demonstration.
