Team Active:Water - Thru Hiking Adventures

AWLongDistanceHikingPic4.jpgThe concept for Active:Water was born out of a very long hiking experience.  In fact, our organization found its roots during our very first campaign, The Earth Expedition, an 18,000 mile walk-around-the-world for clean water.  www.theearthexpedition.com.  So it is very safe to say that we fully understand the energy, dedication, and both mental and physical strength required to hike a long distance trail, such as the Appalachian, Continental Divide, or Pacific Crest Trail. Traditionally, only 15% to 25% of all thru-hikers who begin the 2,175 mile Appalachian Trail complete their journey. Many good-intentioned efforts are thwarted by the rugged terrain and cold temperatures that these mountainous regions can bring.  Motivation is as key to success as one's physical endurance.

AWLongDistanceHikingPic1.jpgIf you are considering strapping on a backpack and setting out as a thru-hiker (or even "section hiker") this season, we'd love to help keep you motivated!  By knowing that each and every step you take is towards not only meeting your own personal goal of reporting to a final mile marker or trail station, but that your efforts are going towards saving lives, we believe you will have the drive necessary to live out your dream!

AWLongDistanceHikingPic3.jpgWe ask that you consider being a voice for the voiceless and set a fundraising goal of $1 - $3 for every mile you complete.  In return, we'll equip you with everything you need (video links, e-cards, brochures, and a personal fundraising page) to share the story of over 1.1 billion people who daily live without safe drinking water and hike upwards of 6 to 8 miles to retrieve water from polluted sources.  In essence, you can say that you'll be walking for water, so that they won't have to.
