Create Your Own Campaign

Emily & Allyson chose to create their own campaign. As eigth graders, they chose to spend their time after school hand stitching fabric birds they called "Birds of Hope" and sell them at their church for $5 each. Soon their community got behind the movement and newspapers and radio helped to promote their campaign. T-shirts were sold, flyers were made, and a website was designed on their behalf.
Since 2010 the girls have raised over $39,000 for water projects in Zambia! In fall of 2011 they established Birds of Hope as a new non-for-profit. They continue to make birds by the scores and bring hope and healing to Zambia! The girls also enjoy inspiring other teens to action through sharing their story at youth conferences around the country.
