For more than forty years, Christ In Youth (CIY) has specialized in connecting young people with Jesus Christ. They are committed to providing life-changing opportunities to young people that they might experience God and His Word in a way that will transform their lives forever. Their mission is accomplished in three ways: through conferences, service projects, and mission trips for young people (as they stand at the crossroads of their lives) and through training and resources for the adults who work with them.
CIY will affect hundreds of thousands of teenagers during the next few years. If you have never attended a CIY conference, these events are truly special! They are filled with energy and passion that both teens and adults find completely enthralling. If that weren't enough, each year, students and leaders alike, are also presented with a challenge to engage in serious issues of social injustice that continue to plague our modern world. Through recent years, students have tackled issues such as hunger, poverty, and even human-trafficking. Through offerrings at the events as well as student-led grassroots campaigns that follow beyond the event, CIY preteens and young adults have brought food to the hungry, freedom to those in slavery, and even built homes for girls rescued from sex trafficking in Cambodia.
This year, CIY's combined conferences are taking on the World Water Crisis! Through major video productions, interactive learning stations, and inspirational teaching, CIY staff are leading their participants on a journey where they are coming face-to-face with what it means to carry the hardship of living in the international water crisis. Students learn the burden of retrieving water for miles from polluted sources, how unsafe drinking water attributes to millions of deaths each year, how the chore of hauling water stifles education and productivity, and how their life can make a huge impact on not just one person, but entire families and villages.
CIY will be raising funds to provide biosand filters, community wells, hygiene training, and sanitation projects that will improve the lives of thousands of Zambians through ActiveWater's current project with our partners, Blood:Water Mission and Seeds of Hope.
